Clients with low vision often have difficulties safely performing kitchen tasks, managing medicines, and maintaining community mobility. Many have also experienced falls.
Occupational Therapists at KRS are trained to help clients with low vision, resulting from age related diseases of the eye such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, or glaucoma, increase independence and safety when completing daily living activities. KRS OTs can help clients learn to use their remaining vision, modify activities to decrease demands on vision, and train clients in the use of adaptive equipment.
Additionally, OTs at KRS can help adult and pediatric clients, who are experiencing visual challenges as a result of neurological trauma or disease, learn functional visual skills to improve self care activities, improve independent living skills, and develop/re-establish pre-driving and vocational skills.
